Financing Washington's Clean Energy Future

The Washington State Green Bank will accelerate the state’s clean energy transition and climate resilience while ensuring that everyone can access its benefits.

What is a green bank?

Green banks are public or nonprofit financing entities that use innovative funding models to make clean energy projects accessible and affordable. By leveraging public and private capital, we help fill gaps in traditional financing markets—offering solutions like low-interest loans and credit support that reduce barriers for homeowners, businesses, and communities across Washington.

Please see the U.S. EPA (https://www.epa.gov/statelocalenergy/green-banks) or U.S. Green Bank 50 (https://www.usgreenbanks.org/) for more information.

Energy-Efficient Homes and Buildings for an Even Greener State

WA Green Bank will provide accessible financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that lower costs and create long-term savings. Whether the projects involve better insulation, solar panels, modern heating and cooling systems, or updated water services, we’re here to make these upgrades possible. Our work will focus on three key areas:

Helping homeowners and renters access low-interest loans designed to make clean energy projects more accessible.

Supporting businesses and larger properties with financing and incentives to make commercial buildings, farms, and multifamily housing more energy efficient and sustainable.

Creating good jobs by catalyzing economic development through strategic financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects statewide.
